GIIS APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship offered by GIIS aims to nurture and provide encouragement to tech-savvy students with a natural inclination towards devices, applications, and other digital tools. It recognizes talent in the digital space and urges them to pursue their dream.
Many students are curious about technology and gadgets from an early stage in life. If you are one of them, then the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam scholarship is for you. It is offered at all the GIIS branches in India. However, the applicable grades may vary from branch to branch. For example, GIIS Bangalore campuses have the following system in place:
For the Whitefield Campus, the applicable grades are Grade 6 – 12
For the Bannerghatta Campus, the applicable grades are Grade 6- 7
What are the eligibility criteria?
While the APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship is available for all the students, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria stated below:
1) The students must be an Indian Citizen.
2) The student must have represented at international, national or regional forums in any of the categories given below and provide relevant proof of the same.
Should have written a paper, thesis, or published documents.
Should have invented or innovated a tool/ gadget related to digital space such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Coding, App-making, BlockChain, etc.
3) Academic performance of the past two years.
4) Scholarship Test and Interview (if applicable).
Based on the above criteria, all the eligible students are selected, who receive the APJ Abdul Kalam scholarship to finance their pursuit of technological innovations and knowledge.
The scholarship awarded to students are divided into three categories:
Category 1: The student eligible for the scholarship in this category should have obtained a national rank amongst top 10 students at the Olympiad conducted by SOF/ STEM Olympiad/ Robotics Olympiad OR have stood national 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank at the annual competition of National Children’s Science Congress.
Scholarship Value: A 20% waiver on the tuition fee is offered.
Category 2: The student eligible for the scholarship in this category should have obtained a national rank amongst top 20 students at the Olympiad conducted by SOF/ STEM Olympiad/ Robotics Olympiad OR have stood state 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank at the annual competition of National Children’s Science Congress OR should be a part of rank 1 teams at ISRO Space Quiz, NSS-National Space settlement.
Scholarship Value: A 15% waiver on the tuition fee is offered.
Category 3: The student eligible for the scholarship in this category should have obtained a national rank amongst top 30 students at the Olympiad conducted by SOF/ STEM Olympiad/ Robotics Olympiad OR should be among top 10 rankers at any national/ international competitions organized by IT giants such as Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Intel, etc., especially Google Science Fair OR should be a part of rank 2 teams at ISRO Space Quiz, NSS-National Space settlement.
Scholarship Value: A 10% waiver on the tuition fee is offered.
Steps to apply for Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship

Step 1: Visit the GIIS Bangalore website, open the application form, and fill in all the necessary details. Make sure you fill in the details correctly, as your first-round selection will depend on it.
Step 2: Upload all the required documents along with the application form. The documents will include:
Upload academic records for the past two years
Paper, thesis or published documents, Technology Project documents
Step 3: After the application is submitted, in the next ten working days, you will be informed about your candidature.
Step 4: If selected you will have to take the Scholarship Assessment
Step 5: You will also undergo a one-on-one interview with the scholarship council members if required.
Step 6: If selected, you will be notified, and the scholarship value will be disbursed.
